Dr. Pamela Dwyer graduated from Luzerne County Community College with her associate degree in nursing and obtained both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing from Misericordia University. She received her Doctor in Nursing Practice from Wilkes University, and has recently been chosen to be a moderator at the annual conference of the National Organization for Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF) in April 2019.

Dr. Dwyer completed a fellowship from the Duke Johnson & Johnson Nurse Leadership Fellowship program in May 2018. Its focus was in the development of a year-long project to implement an electronic medical record system into the free clinic where she is both a volunteer and the administrative director.

The focus of Dr. Dwyer’s DNP capstone was using mobile health technology to improve access to healthcare education among hypertensive patients who utilize free healthcare clinics. She has presented both a poster presentation focusing on her capstone work and a podium presentation titled “DNP Think Tank: Collaborative Strategies to Successful Project Completion” at the 2015 National DNP Conference in Seattle. She is certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and is a member of the Nurse Practitioners of Northeast Pennsylvania.

Dr. Dwyer serves as a member of the board of directors for the Free Clinic Association of Pennsylvania, and is also a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society. She has been employed by Misericordia as adjunct nursing faculty member since 2005 and has served as a full-time faculty member since 2012 for the following undergraduate and graduate courses: Principles of Pharmacy, Health Assessment Across the Lifespan, Childbearing and Family Health, and Clinical Management of Family Health, Advanced Pathophysiology, Advanced Practice Role, Chronic and Acute Adult Healthcare, and Graduate Clinical Synthesis, and DNP Capstone.
